Now,Himachal High Court to come up with Android app to keep track of cases

With an intention to provide justice at your doorstep, High Court judges across the country are trying to find out newer ways to make courts litigant-friendly. High courts, across the nation, will soon be coming up with a mobile application which will be available for android phones.
The litigants and lawyers can download it from Google playstore and keep a track on the progress of their cases. Among other features, the Himachal Pradesh High Court is also the first one to start a mapping application.
“The mapping application will help people unfamiliar with the location of the High Court, to reach the premises easily,” said an official of the High Court.
Also, a solar energy device will installed by the high court to save energy. The Himachal Pradesh High Court plans to start a 100 kw capacity solar energy power plant. The high court of the state has discussed the matter with the Himachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (HIMURJA). The state government has agreed to allocate Rs 1.6 crore for the project. On the functioning of the mobile application of the high courts the speaker for Himachal Pradesh High Court at the Regional Discussion Programme regarding e-courts Project was being held at the Chandigarh Judicial Academy said, “One the application is downloaded on the smart phone it will show the case number, case type, details of the case. One the user will access to the case he wants to get an update on he will get alerts on that particular case in case of any development.” The judicial officers have also created WhatsApp groups amongst themselves to discuss and create awareness about the e-courts project. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has held meeting with the Health Department of both the states, nodal officers of the e-courts project and IG Jails and similar groups on the whatsapp have been created. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has also given incentives of less work to the court staff in order to encourage them to implement e-courts project. Another feature added in the Punjab and Haryana High Court is digitalisation of its library. The library has 1,25,000 books and all have been tagged in RFID software hence judicial officers and lawyers can access it from there. Among other achievements there were 7,11,100 undated cases in the Punjab and Haryana which were not progressing for years have been taken up.
